Maybe a replacement for one of the BFU units?  They could put a package brushfire unit on the flatbed and then remove it other times of the year?

I heard scuba is getting it. From another group  New high-water vehicle with sealed undercarriage, exhaust above water line. For manpower transport in flood conditions. Will have U-shaped bench seating on the bed (There is a military-style tarp for the bed for weather protection).

One additional thing I just noticed while looking at the side view is the large space between the front of the flatbed in the rear of the cab.  It looks like it's designed for some kind of a small compartment section, compressor, generator or something along that line.

New rig......great...yet I still go to work in a 2002 Seagrave P.O.S.!!!  What gives...
Wait a minute, a Seagrave POS? From what I read on here I thought Seagraves were God's gift and Ferrara and KME were the POS. Live and learn.

Interestingly enough, the rig has disappeared from the "In Production" section of Ferrara's web site.  So, it must be done . . . whatever it is.  Certainly not the first flat bed truck FDNY has ever had . . . but 4 wheel drive, the crew cab & that space between the cab & body make it curious.

I don't care what the name is that's on the front.  Don't believe the hype, they all have the same problems!  What matters is that the 2002-03 engines are still awaiting replacement and they're a rough lot!  Rusted through, half the lights don't work, suspension is shot, transmissions wrecked.  Remember, these rigs have 75-100,000 miles on them.  Find me a place where fire apparatus get that kind of mileage over seriously rough streets.  They're all done!  So how about some replacements.....made by whoever the hell gets them here first!

Why would that go to scuba? If it is indeed a high water transport truck wouldn't it be just an SOC piece and stored somewhere to be used when called upon.

I still want to know how the department lets trucks go well over the 10 years before even ordering up replacements but will just randomly order new unique trucks. Is this a vehicle ordered thanks to government funding?

The best examples in recent time have to be Ladder 172 and the 1999 arielscope finally replaced two months ago, and those three companies (21 and forget the other two) who had 1997 scopes up until around 2011. I'll also mention Ladder 24's 1999 rearmount and Ladder 12's scope which were the last 9/11 surviving trucks and probably should have junked back then as opposed to given ten years more of front line service each.
