New sqauds

My understanding is the engines have the 2000 Gpm pumps so they can be used to relay water from the fireboats in the rivers with the 6 inch large diameter hose from the satelites in the event of another 9/11 situation where the water mains are compromised. The squads would Not be assigned to relay water, an incident where water relay would be needed would most likely have the squads operating as a special company and would require there appratus to be positioned close to the scene to utilize there tools. the extra size and cost of a 2000 Gpm pump isn't necessary for the squads.  The way fdny operates a 1000 Gpm pump is more than enough with the water supply system nyc has.

Until not  too  long  ago  all  engines  were  1000gpm  except  the six  compays  for  the satellites  including  Maxi-Water Unit. ( Engine 9,  72,  159,  207,  284,  324,)    So  that  would  line  up  with what  BCR  said.

Correct when they redesigned the engines they switched to the 2000 Gpm pumps, those were the 2008 seagraves, the host companies for the satelite's always had 2000gpm pumps going back to the old macks and were designed for water relay with a large diameter discharge on the front bumper like the current engines. even the high pressure engines had 1000 Gpm pumps until 2008 ? when engine 8 was replaced with a new Seagrave 2000gpm high pressure engine, the other high pressure engines didn't get 2000 Gpm pumps until last year ?? Or was it early this year ?
