From Newport News FD @ 1920:

"The NNFD is currently on scene of a 2-alarm residential structure fire in the 300 block of 54th St. Crews arrived on scene with fire visible from the 2nd and 3rd floors. Initially, crews had reports of individuals trapped and the first arriving units deployed several hose lines for an interior fire attack while searching for victims. It was later reported that all occupants were able to exit the structure unharmed.
The fire was brought under control within an hour of the first arriving units and NNFD personnel are currently on scene performing overhaul and starting their investigation into the cause.
6 residents have been displaced and are being assisted by Red Cross. Please make sure you have working smoke alarms and a home exit plan! "
