Members of Nycfire, on Thursday, November 19th our site Administrator, retired Captain John Bendick was taken to the hospital for what was a very serious medical condition. John had to undergo emergency surgery for an obstruction and the doctor told his wife there were no guarantees. In fact he told her another couple of hours and he would not have made it.

In the beginning John was placed on a ventilator. He was very sick and in serious condition.

John was just released into a regular room today - Friday Dec 4th. Fifteen days after being admitted into the ICU.

Today I talked to John and he sounded very good. He told me those doctors and nurses were GREAT. He also included the aids that helped him clean up.
