E10 on scene, reporting smoke showing and located behind building. E10 gaining access through a locked gate.
0255: Ladder 10 assuming Ballantine Command. E11 working on water supply, will be an extended supply lay.
0256: Declaring working incident, large trash pile inside building on fire.

0257: Battalion 1 has command, correct address is 3100 block Ballantine Blvd. Engine 10 laying a line, multiple lines will be needed. Contents in building is burning, has not extended to building.
0301: Engine 10 has water on fire. Extended water supply will be required, closest hydrant Ballantine & Virginia Beach Blvd. Engine 1 assisting with a relay pump operation.
0302: Ladder 1 set up and ready for master stream ops if needed.
0304: Engine 10 reporting a trench inside the building, behind the fire.

Crews respond to fire at SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station
According to dispatch, the call for the fire came in around 2:47 a.m. in the 3100 block of Woodland Ave.
