On Sunday, August 20th at approximately 10:50a, the Oceanside NY Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Fortesque Ave. Ex-Chief 241-89 quickly arrived on scene finding fire on the 2nd floor and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 249 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. In total, 2 lines were stretched with the assistance of crews from Long Beach and Baldwin. The main body of fire was quickly knocked down with the scene being placed under control in approximately 20 minutes under the direction of Chief of Department Daskalakis [241]. The occupants of the home were evaluated by EMS on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Text courtesy Over the Edge Phtography.
