Plainfield Township, PA- 5th Alarm 08-02-11

As of right now over 57 agencies operating, still heavy fire through out.
The county I live in, Warren County sent 6 tenders around lunch time.
My wife sent me pictures from Phillipsburg.

It is a bitch fighting a fire that large with no readily available source of water. Hopefully the tankers didn't have to go to far to fill up. I remember my dept being first due at a fire in a tree and wood recycling yard. Huge piles of mulch were burning. My pumper was drafting out of a small lake and we sucked it dry in no time. At one point 9000 feet of 5" diameter hose was laid out with I think 6 or 8 pumpers in line pumping water uphill from a river. On the second day a crash truck from Stewart Airport was working the fire along with a bulldozer pushing down the mulch piles and the crash truck driving through them hitting them with it's water cannon but they go through water like a hot knife through butter. It started Friday night and was finally out early Sunday morning. I don't envy the boys at this fire in Pa.
