On Monday, May 15th at approximately 12:25p, the Plainview Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire with people trapped on Island St. 1st Assistant Chief Mayrose [9502] quickly arrived on scene with flames from the rear of a 2-story house and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 956 and Bethpage Ladder 4 were first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire which was found on the first and second floors with extension into the attic. At least 2 lines were stretched with the assistance of crews from Farmingdale, Hicksville, Jericho and Syosset. The fire was placed under control in less than an hour with overhaul conducted by crews on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Text courtesy over The Edge Photography.
