From the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office:

Earlier today we responded to a unique incident. An electrical pole with transformer fell on top of a house. With the wires still live the house was evacuated and neighbors were alerted to the danger. It appeared to have compromised the roof of the house and the wall of the transformer causing oil to leak out. PSE&G was requested along with Office of the Fire Marshal - County of Nassau Hazmat Team due to the oil leaking. With the tension on the lines our crews maintained a safety perimeter. The Fire Marshals were able to deploy their drone to get a closer look safely at what the situation was. Our crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours with Town of Hempstead E.M.S. and Nassau County Police Department until the power was safely turned off. Ambulance 252, Engine 253, Tower Ladder 254 and Engine 255 responded to the scene. One dry line off of Engine 255 was stretched as a precaution.
