STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh presided over the promotion ceremony for 104 Fire and EMS Officers that took place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

During her speech, Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh stated, “You’ve demonstrated an incredible commitment to serve.” She also wished well for the fellow officers being promoted by saying, “Keep up the great work and stay safe.”

“This new group of Chiefs, Captains and Lieutenants possess decades of experience, responding to thousands of fires and medical emergencies. They have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to serving those in need, with no shortage of heroic acts throughout their careers,” said Acting Commissioner Kavanagh. “They are leaders, and their new roles will allow them to lead and teach our Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics, as they work towards the same goal – saving lives and making our city safer.”

Acting Chief of Department John Hodgens also spoke at the ceremony by stating, “You are filling the shoes of those who came before you.”

During the ceremony there were four EMS Deputy Chiefs promoted to EMS Division Chief, five Captains promoted to EMS Deputy Chief, 30 Fire Lieutenants promoted to the rank of Captain, 60 Firefighters promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and five EMS Lieutenants promoted to Captain.

Does anyone have access to the names of the EMS personnel promoted? Just wanted to see if I knew anyone. Thanks in advance. (I saw the list on the FD side and nope, nobody familiar.)
