Chief - well said on both items - I grew up in Flushing and as a youngster saw beautiful Queen Anne homes razed for post war apts particularly on 41st Avenue from 147 St to Union St in the mid 1950's to 1960.  In addition post war apts look so sterile - just don't have the character of the pre-war apts.  I think they call this progress!!
