I have a few questions on different types of FDNY units.

1) What is the difference of a Satellite apparatus and a Maxi Water unit?

2) What is a manifold hose wagon?

3) What supplies do the EMS WMD Units have? Any pictures of both units?

4) What is the purpose of the ATRV 329? What assignments does it respond to?

5) What are the unit numbers on the FDNY SOC, Hazmat and EMS Gators?

Thanks.

EMS "Gators" have no specific radio call numbers. These numbers are assigned at the onset of a special event that they may be part of.

Additional, when they are assigned they are given the designation of Paul and Queen. I.e. 81Paul in Times Square or 43 Queen out in Coney Island

Thanks for refreshing my memory on the P's and Q's. I didn't want to guess and give the wrong info.

Q: What is the JFK/LGA Hosewagon?
A: The hosewagons, quartered with the engine companies closest to the city's airports, are just that: wagons that carry hoses.  Due to the long stretches associated with runway incidents, a box at the airports requires the response of both a hose wagon and a Satellite company in order to get adequate hose and water/foam on an aircraft fire.  The two hosewagons are converted from the old satellites and do not carry pumps.

That FAQ is a very large post and may answer more questions you have re apparatus and procedures.

The hose wagons are old satellites with the gun , foam and other equiptment removed. They are just an apparatus that carry around 3,000 feet of 6 inch large diameter hose and are assigned on boxes to LGA & JFK

What happened to the units of Engine 154? Who has foam 154, BFU 4 and the gator unit? Is the S.I Boro Command still with E154/SQ8?

^^^ I do not remember who had this as a Pumper but Fire Salvage 4 of the Model Cities program used it last as Big
Bertha in BKLYN.

2) What are the Carolina Skiff Teams?

3) Is Division 20 a reserve unit?

4) Is Battalion 73 a reserve unit?

I believe this rig started out as E-277, then became E-242, then a salvage unit.  FDNY bought 5 crew cab Mack R pumpers in 1969-70 on a trial basis. After its service, one of these sat for years in a shed at LaGuardia Airport.  Among some of the other units that had one at one time or another were E-38 and E-209.

I strongly suggest purchasing the "Fire Department of New York- an Operational Reference, 11th edition. Do a search, several possible buying options will appear.
