A fire heavily damaged a historic funeral home in Raleigh overnight. This came after rounds of severe storms struck the area with multiple calls for service for lightning strikes, and trees and power lines down.

Additional information from Legeros Fire Line on Facebook:

Here's an early a.m. report on this morning's working fire in downtown Raleigh. Dispatched 1:09 a.m. as [call type goes here] at South Person Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for Engine 3 and Ladder 1. Upgraded to structure fire as units were en route.
Engine 3 first-arriving at a two+ story, single-family dwelling. Fire on first floor. Interior attack, with extended operations due to extension to attic and difficult "cut up" interior spaces. Battalion 2 in command, Battalion 3 in Division C (rear). Two sets of two additional engines requested over time (E10, E8) (E4, E5), as crews required relief.
Evacuation tones sounded at ~2:15 a.m. Aerial operations started at ~2:23 a.m. Fire under control at 2:45 a.m. Source for details is radio traffic.
Placeholder graphic below. Will swap with news imagery once surfaced. Compiling radio traffic, which includes new references for hose lines, now cited by color. e.g., "green line," "orange line," etc.
