Rescue 12 in Manhattan

Anyone have the info on the coverage of rescue 12 in Manhattan. Were they activated because of the ball drop and times sqaure closures?

Rescue 12 is the 2nd section of Rescue 2…. Each Rescue (besides R1) has the Old which is a Reserve Rescue will be numbered R11 R12 R13 R14 R15…. Once New R1 finally gets put into Service. R12 was doing a second section of R2 area

***correction only 1 Reserve Rescue will be put in at a time and they will be on rotation.

They have been doing that for years but it was called Rescue 6

Yes they don’t know what they are doing with R6 yet

Or at any major prolonged incident where multiple Rescues are operating ,at the discretion of the Recsue Battalion or Dep Chief of Rescue Opps. They can be called in to relive operating Rescues at the scene or just in service to fill the void in the city.

Rescue 2 would man it’s own reserve. If they didn’t have enough they would get guys from SOC. Just like the Reserve Engines and Ladders are usually manned by whatever companies they are housed with before anyone else. San Gennaro little Italy. E15 TL18 get first dibs on RE500 if they don’t have enough they reach out to Division

Yes …maned by off duty members of that company that is being assigned. A group text to off duty members of that Company…then if needed a general text to the other Rescues. The reaction time from making the request/ decision to put a reserve rescue in service and that rig actually going 10-8 needs to be anticipated when making the call. Also a longer time to get R-11, R-14 in service do,to the fact that the reserve rigs are not stored w the associated Rescue.…another reason R-1 & R-4 are in need of new quarters.
