I have always wondered but have never been able to get a definative answer on how the Special Operations Command is Staffed in regards to the special units. Mainly is there guys always on duty to respond with units such as Decon Support, Utility Support, Air compressor Truck, Logistics Support, the differnt trailers (rail cart, containment vessel), the POD Movers, backhoe, etc. ? Is there only a couple guys  and if additional units are needed on scene someone as to be called in or a unit sent to retrieve and deliver the unit ? I've always been curious as to how all those special units are staffed to reapond, also curious about how the Marine Incident Response Unit is staffed as well.

Well I do know that SOC Island has several firefighters there to take vehicles to scenes. Also they can use SOC companies to bring different items and pick them up from the ROCK or SOC Island.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

A few members from this site were invited to SOC Hqs last year. As I remember there was a Captain in charge and there were maybe two or three other firefighters there. As I remember, the Tac Unit was out in a run (?) at that time.

I could not confirm but I believe that most of those firefighters assigned to that firehouse are NOT permanently assigned. But I also must assume that they must receive some type of special training in the operation of those special units.

I'm pretty sure The Rescue Operations Battalion works the same schedule as all the other battalions, I think there are 4 and each has there own aide.  There is also the Chief of Rescue Operations (Car 11A)

Is car 11a a deputy chief? And then he reports to soc commander ?

They don't work the same schedule...they do work 24 on 72 off but from 0700 to 0700.

The Tac , Compressor ,Logistics and Dewatering units are all staffed 24/7 . If any other equipment was needed at a incident that equipment would be delivered to a scene by member that are working in the tool room and/or the office on SOC Island
