1992 - 1996 were all the Commander model, with the exception of the 6 Marauder 1000gpm units in 1993, the 7 high-pressure Marauder units in 1993/94, and the lone 1994 2000gpm unit.

1997 - 2002 were also all the Commander model, even though these did have front grilles - these were added for improved airflow to the engine.

2003 were also Commander models, with the exception of Squad 61, which was the first Commander II model.  (An easy way to distinguish the Commander from the Commander II is the Commander II's side windows come down as low as the bottom edge of the windshield, where the original Commander's side windows were several inches higher than the bottom edge of the windshield.)

2004 models were Commander II's at E 68, 229, 308, and 320 (standard 1000gpm units), and E9 (2000gpm unit).  The other two 2004's were standard Commander's (E166 and 289).

The lone 2005 model at E305 is a Commander, and the 2006 model at E168 is a Commander II.

The "J" cab for Seagrave I think refers to any cab that is a "fixed" cab - that is, the Commander and Commander II series.
By contrast the Marauder and Marauder II cabs (and also the FWD towers) were on split-tilt cabs, identifiable by the split in the cab between the driver and passenger areas.  The Marauder (II) also have double front grills with the "elbow" front bumper intake as opposed to the single grill on the 97-03 Commanders and the Commander IIs and the no-grills on the older Commanders.
