On the night of Tuesday, December 20th, 2022, the South Farmingdale Fire Department along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] on Merritts Road off McKinley Avenue. Firefighters battled fire inside of a coffee shop – one of four occupancies in a one-story taxpayer. At least one hand line was put into operation and firefighters were able to keep the fire from extending into the exposures. On Tuesday, December 20th just before 9:45p, the South Farmingdale Fire Dept was dispatched to a reported building fire on Merrits Rd. 1st Assistant Chief Mackie [9702] was quickly on scene finding smoke showing from a 1-story row of stores and upgraded the alarm to a Signal 10 with active fire in Cafe La Bella Notte. Engine 972 was first due and stretched the initial line into the building to begin extinguishing the fire. With the assistance of crews from Bethpage, North Massapequa, Farmingdale and East Farmingdale, the main body of fire was knocked down in approximately 20 minutes with 3 lines stretched.
