The Marine Division Summer Boat Program will be in service as of 0700 hours on May 18, 2007.
Marine 3, based at Gateway Marina, will cover the south shores of Brooklyn and Queens, and will monitor the Queens radio frequency.
Marine 4, based at the US Coast Guard Station, Fort Totten, will cover the north shore of Queens and the south shore of the Bronx, and will monitor the Bronx radio frequency.
Marine 8, based at Mansion Marina, will cover Staten Island, and will monitor the Staten Island radio frequency.
These companies are in-service daily from 0700 to 2400 hours and are operated by two CFR-D certified Marine Division personnel. All boats are equipped with fire/de-watering pumps, water rescue and CFR-D equipment. They are an excellent water source for fires near the waterfront and are able to communicate with NYPD Harbor Units, the US Coast Guard and other vessels on the Marine VHF radio for water rescues, boaters in distress, and/or reports of drowning and other
medical emergencies.
