Evidentally FDNY wanted to test the feasibility of 100' towers in the city so they purchased 2 Sutphens, 1 in 1980, assigned to L14 and a second one in 1981 assigned to L-119. In addition in 1984 they purchased two ALF/LTI units, assigned to L-14 and 163. The Sutphens had 1250GPM pumps and the ALF's 1500GPM pumps. Were the pumps of these 4 apparatus ever used in conjunction with fire-fighting operations?
