Things sure look different now from what they looked like in 1981.

I remember when Charlotte St began to change.
You could buy a vacant lot full of rubbish, ADVs, even sometimes a dead dog or cat, for $1,000.
I though who in their right mind would ever consider such a dumb move.
Wow was I WRONG.

On that Charlotte St some raised ranch houses with yards, green grass and picket fences started to appear.
Other streets were cleaned up with buildings rehabbed and entire neighborhoods beginning to change.

I remember a new townhouse apartment building built right across the street from the real Fort Apache, the 42nd Pct.
A condo apartment was for sale and I called about it.
It was listed for $325,000
I couldn't believe it.
This was on a street that at one time, the only place NOT burned out was that police station.

Just something that our members might be interested in.
This web site owner/administrator, "jbendick" also played a part in the fire scene in that movie - "Fort Apache the Bronx".

It brings back a lot of memories. A lot of the filming did not take place in the 41st Pct area, but in the 42, 44, & 48th Pct communities. The 42nd Pct station house was used since the street was much wider.
