A Canadian National freight train de-railed in Elgin, Illinois which is approximately 40 miles west of Chicago. Cars carrying Sodium Hydroxide, Ferrous Sulfate, and Organic Acid derailed but were not involbed in the ensuing fire. Three cars carrying fibreboard and scrap metal were involved in a fire. Commuter rail was severely disrupted and will continue until at least Saturday.
