Seems like those guys should be cleaning out their desks and being escorted off the property by the MPs. They couldn't at least bust them down a rank or two.

In the old Navy, if the captain ran his ship aground, he was removed from command. Chester Nimitz was court-martialed as an Ensign when he ran the destroyer Decatur aground in the Philippines in 1908.

This was a mess for the Navy. They charged a low-ranking sailor for starting this massive fire resulting the total loss of this ship. They had no physical evidence, and the sailor was acquitted by court martial trial. The next step was to take administrative actions against the entire chain-of-command for being unprepared.
