Incident Location: 17 Sapir Street
On Sunday at 10:40AM, the Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a lawn fire of a home at Sapir Street and East Avenue. Due to some of the department taking part in a St Patrick’s Day Parade, the Hewlett and Lynbrook Fire Departments were also alerted to respond. Units were immediately on the road and were notified that Nassau County Fire Communications was receiving multiple calls for a house fire. Upon arrival of Lynbrook Assistant Chief Murphy, a Signal 10 (working fire) was transmitted. It was determined that two garages and two cars were on fire near two houses. Three hose lines were put into operation off Hewlett Engine 302. Lynbrook Tower Ladder 427 was the first due truck. Chief Capone arrived on scene and assumed command of operations. Additional mutual aid responded from neighboring departments. The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office (Text Credit VSFD).
