Incident Location: 985 Douglas Avenue
On the evening of Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, the Wantagh Fire Department along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] on Douglas Avenue off Barrie Avenue. Firefighters stretched two hand lines and put one hand line into operation for a fire in the basement of a two-story private dwelling. Levittown was designated the FAST and North Bellmore responded to the scene with an additional working truck. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not extend to the floors above. All occupants made it safely out of the residence and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Wantagh Chief of Department Thomas Bloomfield [6900] had command of the incident.
