Westbury NY (Nassau) Fatal Working Fire 6/22/23

n Thursday, June 22nd just before 11a, the Westbury Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire with people trapped on Division Ave. Chief of Department Carr [9601] was quickly on scene transmitted a Working Fire with fire on the 1st & 2nd Floors with a confirmed occupant trapped on the 2nd floor. Engine 9610 was first due and began to extinguish the fire while simultaneously working to locate the occupant. Despite quickly locating the occupant, firefighters found the occupant deceased in the house. At least 3 lines were placed into operation to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Hicksville, Syosset, Carle Place, Bethpage, Jericho, Mineola and Hempstead. The fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes under the direction of Chief of Department Carr. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Text courtesy Over the Edge Photography.
