66 year old Wethersfield Volunteer Firefighter Sharkevich, was a Retired Hartford Firefighter where he was nicknamed "Sharky".
When the two Tactical Units, called "Tac Units" were formed, one in the south end on Park St "Tac 1", and another in the north end on North Main St "TAC 2" - Hartford's elite Heavy Rescue Companies, Firefighter Sharkevich was one of it's first members where he spent most of his career assigned to "TAC 1".

I am told that he was once honored by the Hartford Fire Department for going above and beyond in saving the life of an individual.
