Units dispatched @15:23 to North Pennsylvania Avenue, around the Lion Brewery, in the area of E. Chestnut St., for the reported 2 vehicle MVC. Upgraded to a MVC with heavy entrapment.

LCCC911 – Caller reporting a 2 vehicle MVC with 2 entrapped patients, 2 medic units sent @15:24

F6 – Adding myself and E1 to this call @15:25

E2 – Keep everyone priority 1, 2 heavily entrapped, one with heavy blood loss @15:26

F6 – Priority message, add the truck to this call priority 1 @15:27

E2 – With the report of E1’s airbags being out of service dispatch the heavy out of Kingston @15:28

F6 – Establishing Command, I have a car under a tractor trailer at this time, 2 patients heavily entrapped @15:29

F6 – Prolonged extrication with all city units tied up, any calls in the city auto dispatch Kingston and Hanover Township @15:32

F6 – R3 get as close to scene as you can, manpower with airbags & struts forward, access to the driver obtained, no access to the passenger at this time, car completely under the trailer with heavy damage, attempting P-side B-post removal @15:34

F6 – Advise GWV they will be getting 2 Level 1 traumas @15:42

F6 – Patient 1 extricated, conscious at this time and with M3 @15:44

F6 – Patient 2 extricated, unconscious at this time and with M13A @15:52

F6 – County Coroner is on the scene @16:00

F6 – All companies clearing the scene, terminating command @16:30

LAFD, Metro Dade-Florida and Washington FD all have Heavy Rescues that are really very Heavy-Duty Tow Trucks. Sounds like this type of Heavy-Duty Tow Rescue would have been helpful in this situation. Just an idea. Perhaps it time for FDNY to think about one or better yet more than one of these rigs, Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired
 
Yes I have seen such rigs, we do not have anything like that anywhere close. I was not there, but from listening, something like that may have been helpful whereas access to the passenger was heavily compromised. A lot of local departments have close relationships with the multiple heavy tow companies in the area for such an operation and they have been utilized.
