Woonsocket, RI- 8th Alarm/Mill Fire 06-07-11

The City of Woonsocket, R.I. Fire Dept has been taking a Beating from their local, crooked, self promoting Politicians over the last few years. The city has some heavy fire potential and in addition the FD provides the EMS Transport Services, as does most of R.I FDs (Ambulances).

  No doubt they recieved mutual aid from some Excellent Fire Depts in the surrounding areas. Cities like Providence, East Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls (one sq mile with a population of 18,000 last time I checked), Cranston, Warwick, and maybe a few others. I buffed the area for many years. All these are Excellent Depts.

  I'm hoping that just maybe, a few of those Local Politicians may be having second thoughts about cutting one of the most vital services of Woonsocket, R.I. (or any city for that matter). As the fire spread and fire brands lite off many rooftop fires, I have to hope, maybe some of those rooftop fires involved a few roofs of those Local Political Leaders. Then just maybe "They" will have some Second Thoughts next time about cutting Fire Dept services.
 
A site posted some great initial scenes of the first due companies. There were 2 engines and a tower ladder. They were hopelessly outmached by the sheer volume of fire. As for the politicians how about this: the fire load in this area has dramatically been reduced, cut an engine/truck in this area. 8)
