Bridgeport, CT had two working fires on 7/6. The first fire was in a commercial building on Hancock Avenue; fire involved magnesium and propane tanks inside a factory. The fire went to a third alarm with numerous Bridgeport units plus mutual aid from Fairfield and Stratford.
While that fire was being fought, there was a fire in a high-rise residential building: Embassy Towers at 2625 Park Avenue. The fire was in an apartment on one of the upper floors with many senior citizen occupants. In addition to Bridgeport, additional companies responded from nearby communities of Fairfield, Milford, Trumbull, and Westport.
High temperatures did not help in either fire with firefighters experiencing heat stroke and related issues.
