12/20/07) YONKERS - A high school in Yonkers was evacuated Thursday due to a bomb threat that turned out to be bogus.

The threat to Gorton High School was received by the New York state police, which contacted Yonkers police. The police then notified the school, and all staff and students were ushered out of the building.

Police sealed off the school as the Westchester County Bomb Squad sent in a dog to see if anything could be found. After the search, students were allowed back into class.

Police have not revealed how they received the threat or the specifics of it.

Calling in a false bomb threat to a school is now a felony. On top of being suspended, a student convicted of that crime could face up to seven years in prison.
