That's not so unusual as SE Queens units often go through Nassau County when responding. Jamaica Ave. turns into Hempstead Tpke. Also units respond into the Rockaways via Rockaway Blvd proceeding through Woodmere, Cedarhurst/Lawrence and Inwood. L134 does the same in reverse since it's the 2nd due truck into a couple of Rosedale/Brookville boxes.

And the same can be said for E-63/L-39 on some boxes where they head into Yonkers or Mt. Vernon.

G'man - agree with you on responses into the eastern areas of the Rockaways that Rockaway Blvd is generally used.

However, your changing some of the geography on me with regard to L165 on this box:

1. Jamaica Avenue actually becomes Jericho Tpke and Hempstead Avenue becomes Hempstead Tpke.

2. The most direct response for L165 (if coming from quarters) would be either Springfield Blvd or the Cross Island Pkwy.  Perhaps there was traffic and/or construction on these roadways that caused L165 to be at Hempstead Ave/Tpke and Elmont Road. I know this area pretty well as my mother-in law lives in the general area and I feel very confident in saying they wound up taking a circuitous route for some reason.  The quickest route would be the Cross Island Pkwy which Mapquest estimates at
4.66 miles and a 12 minute trip.

At the end of the day fortunately it appears no one was hurt in the minor MVA

However you are right about trips through Nassau though. Even 251 in Glen Oaks and E304 and TL 162 occassionally traverse Nassau on some runs.

Quote/efd274: 1. Jamaica Avenue actually becomes Jericho Tpke and Hempstead Avenue becomes Hempstead Tpke.  Wow! I didn't even notice that big error I made as I should know better having lived for more than 10 years just 2 exits away from Jericho Tpke on the Cross Island Pkwy. ::)
