Response area does not always correspond to administrate area. While in 23 Engine our B.I. area went south to the north west corner of 51st and 5th Ave. We were not assigned until the 2nd alarm on that box.

E48 was 2nd due from old quarters on Webster between 189 and Fordham. 1st due from present quarters at Webster and 187. Box 3320 was good for a "no contact" response at least once a night tour.

Just a quick note, I think somehow there is a mix up. I, nfd2004, didn't write this. Could there be another Willy "D" out there. (NFD2004) ?

Thank you Chief. That is something that I never knew. I always thought it was just the first due response district.

Today I was talking to one of the retired members and he told me that Eng 75 Admin area extended to the opposite side of the street from Engine 43/Ladder 59s quarters on Sedgewick Ave in the Bronx. So in reality, the members of 43/59 could look out the apparatus bays and see members of Eng 75 doing their required Adminstrative duties directly across the street from  43/59s firehouse.

Turk and JOR,

3320's assignment has changed a million times over the years. Back before the War Years (early 60's) and all the companies moving to new quarters, it went like this:

75  48  88    33 38

46  42  79      27

and if you do the street mileage that's about right. I still have L38 going in as the FAST on a previous (last few years)10-75 at that box. 48 did take over first due after they moved south to their present locaton.

G-man, you don't have an older card do you?

  Sorry, I don't or I would've posted it.
