This was in the same area from 2000 when there was a Sixth Alarm brush Fire that burned from the LIE to Northern Blvd sort of between the back of the homes on Douglaston Pkwy & the Alley Pond environmental Center just East of the Cross Island Pkwy..... at the '00 Sixth initially Units hooked up on the LIE which was the original location but the wind quickly took it North all the way to Northern Blvd (a large area)....i responded in BN*46 on the multiple....many possums ...racoons & rodents were chased out & were running across Northern Blvd ....in making a search of the large burned out area there were some shells of old '40s cars discovered that probably had been hidden in the overgrown brush/trees for many years...there was a subsequent WNYF article on the Sixth by one of my proby school classmates ....?Six-Alarm Brush Fire in Douglaston, Queens,? by Deputy Chief Michael Giovinazzo, in the 3rd/2000 issue.
