At 0341 hours, the Fairfield (CT) FD was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from a commercial building at 1565 Black Rock Turnpike, near Judd Street. The shift commander in Car 3 reported a working fire in a business known as "Beans and Leaves". Engine 2 stretched an attack line while Ladder opened and vented the building. Second due Engine 3 secured a water supply and stretched a second line to back up Engine 2. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 arrived and searched other occupancies in the building; Engine 5 was assigned RIT duties. Engine 4 stretched a precautionary line into an adjacent store. An engine and ladder from Bridgeport were special called but returned prior to their arrival. The fire is being investigated by the Town Fire Marshal.
