bee-boos

I have a CD from July 4th, 1988 that was recorded by the aide for BC44. When the boys are in quarters, you can hear the "bee-boo", along with the VAS, the radios, etc.... no "Engine, Ladder, Bn." though......

The bee boops have been around at least 25 plus years. The newer sounding ones with the little blip after them have been around probably 10-12 years. Prior to Starfire, units were turned out over the voice alarm, which is an intercom between the dispatchers and the firehouses. Prior to the voice alarm was the bells.
PS, with the new voice alarm system, the dispatchers can turn out companies and it has a pre programmed bee boop that we use. It sounds different from the one generated by Starfire.

Voice Alarm sounded an initial loud warning tone.  Then dispatcher announced units, borough, multiple alarm if applicable, box number, location and requested
acknowledgement. 

Initially Voice Alarm just sounded tone and announced borough, box, location and requested responding units to acknowledge.

Telegraph system was all bells - repeated twice.
