Cameras on Fire Helmets Raising Privacy Concerns

Privacy concerns are certainly a negative point for using them but there are also many positives.  Obviously they are an excellent way of documenting what took place on the fire ground while the event is actually happening, something is very difficult to do by other means.  They also serve as a great training tool during the after event debriefing.  I think the privacy concerns can be addressed with better control of the use of the videos, it would probably be better if the cameras themselves belonged to the departments instead of individuals that way control would not be such an issue.

It's no different than most new technologies, the technology happens so rapidly that determining how and when to use it comes later.
 
It also seems like another thing where it's a great thing for guys to use to help each other with training or showing friends, but one or two people are going to ruin it for everyone. Does anyone know if any FDNY guys use them or if there's any rules about them in the city?
 
Aside from any legal aspect or Helmet warranty issues .....any thoughts pro or con on a Helmet Cam ? .....Training afterwards ? ....Safety on the scene (showing interior conditions to the Comm Post)? etc ....good or bad ? ......I am referring to a Dept issued Unit for Dept purposes ....  I see more good aspects than bad although i have not seen any modern day cams or know any facts about weight ...durability....price etc.....also does it have to be Helmet mounted or could it be chest mounted like some PDs would that work ?.... maybe we will hear from some posters more familiar w/them.
 
The chief in LA banned all members from using / having helmet cams after the plane crash incident where an FD vehicle mistakenly ran over a victim. I guess it was all caught on helmet cam including audio and the chief said no more after that, someone please correct or add I couldn't find the story where I read about it.
 
Was the LA plane crash incident involving a Dept issued cam or a personal one ?

I believe it was a personal one.  I actually have never heard of any department that issues helmet cameras to its members.  Has anyone else?
 
There are several wireless recording systems where nothing being recorded is kept on the camera, similar to a home router for computers, where the video and audio are gathered and stored on a computer system for storage.  That would take the security concerns of the individual and can be reviewed without any chance of it being leaked to any social media.
