Engine 165 to Squad 165

I came on here looking to read about "Squad" 165 and left with a smile due to these comments lol.

Can you two just knock it off, it is not polite to others on this site that is trying to find out information. One I do know about Staten Island units is that since we do not have a lot units on the island. A lot of the Engines have double of triple duties. This webpage is not for a grudge of who knows the most.  :)

Thank You, 'Buzz'. No One I Know has accused FDNY FF's of being 'Polite', but your point is well-taken.

Being the Bright Guys that i Know they are, perhaps 'joey' & '3333' can Figure Out how to Operate the PM or e-mail feature of this site to carry-on their discussion further.
Maybe they can arrange to meet face-to-face on some S.I. Sandlot to work out their disagreement
in a More Diplomatic Fashion ? Jest Sayin'...  ::)

OOpppsss...! Beg Pardon, Chowson    :-X

I do a lot of work with the guys at 165/85 and I can tell you one thing...
...the dining room table sure is purdy. ;)

My apologies for not catching the silly nonsense earlier. It's been a very, very long time since that's happened here.

Drove buy E 165 and TL 85 yesterday day the have enough space to house extra rigs and equipment on the side of the bulding.

Has squad 165 been placed in service it's past the due date??
165 will not be a squad. It's new rig is laid out like a squad because its a Haz-Tec. Engine and has to carry the extra equipment.

That's what continuously is being said but there are many other Haz-Tec engine companies that carry just as much extra equipment and don't have squad bodies of their rigs, what makes 165 so special?

The capt of 165 requested it from what I've heard.  All haz tec engines had a second piece I would think that the capt probably wanted the squad style body because it has more storage and can him more equipment thus hopefully not needing the second piece just my opinion

Does the new 165 have the 1000 gpm pump that the squads have or did they put a 2000 gpm pump in like all the new engines have. ? Judging by pictures it also appears there's no storage for l
Hard / semi hard suction on the squad style units

There's no way they could store all of the additional equipment required for a Haz-Tec company on a squat body engine!  They would still require the 2nd piece.  It certainly has to be some other reason for this and just because the captain of the company wanted it doesn't hold much water in the FDNY system.

Depends on the Captain.

New rig was at radio shops last week. It is supposedly only a 1000 gpm pump. As has been mentioned previously 165 has additional collateral assignments that 44, 250 and 274 do not have. They are a water rescue unit and also carry a chain saw or 2 and are supposed to have a zodiac boat. The other HMTU Engines have raised cab Seagraves while 165 still has a much older Seagrave with less storage then the other HMTU's. The rig should be in service pretty quick since only 165 has to be trained on it. May do it right in quarters. Hope this clears up some of the speculation.
