Chief JK, I know that I won't forget the Happyland Social Club Fire. The first news I heard of that was on CBS Radio while driving over to a friends house after I had finished working my night tour at the firehouse in Ct. He was also a FDNY buff and knew where East Tremont and Southern Blvd was.
Over the radio I had heard a report that 23 people were confirmed dead from this fire. When I got to his house and we watched the news. The number continued to rise. For me it's one of those news items that you will never forget where you were when you heard of this.
I believe there is a book written call "Arson" in which one chapter talks about that fire. The book was written by a FDNY member and I believe the author was there.
