At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, 09 Dec, the Oneonta Fire Department and multiple mutual aid departments responded to a reported explosion and structure fire at 18 Richards Ave in the Town of Oneonta.
Upon arrival, they found multiple residences with severe damage and one active structure fire.
Reports indicate 3 buildings affected. One completely leveled from explosion, one with severe damage and one fully engulfed in flames.
Residents should avoid the area of Chestnut Street and Richards Avenue in the Town of Oneonta due to an ACTIVE EMERGENCY Incident. Multiple Fire/EMS and Law Enforcement units are on the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with our first responders and those affected by this event.
