Rescue Equipment Question

Ive been out for a few years , so don’t know the status of the collapse pods . I don’t believe the collapse pods were ever assigned on the 10-60 signal , they have to be special called by the SOC Chief thought the IC. Remember there are two collapse rigs assigned on a 10-60 signal or can be simple requested as needed. That’s a lot of lumber between just the two CR.

In theory the collapse pods are a fantastic idea. To have a few pods loaded up and strategically located throughout the city. But in reality the need would have to be a very large major incident . The pods are loaded up loaded w 16foot 2x4’s , 4x and 6x‘s.…plus sheets of plywood. All that lumber is not meant to be stored for long periods of time …it needs to by used and or rotated over time or it will twist and warp making it all un usable. $$$$. The Rescue school was good at using the oldest lumber in rotation whenever a collapse or trench rescue class are being taught , but still left a lot of lumber just to sit and twist and warp over time. If I recall they went down to just 2 pods , one at SOC Island and one at the Rock.
