96 Vark St., Getty Square. Engine 303's rig on fire in quarters (E303/B1).

21:59hrs. - Engine 303 reporting their rig is on fire in quarters.

22:02hrs. - Rescue 1 10-84 setting up winch to pull Engine 303 out of quarters.

22:03hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting fire contained to engine w/no extension into firehouse. Heavy smoke condition.

22:04hrs. - Battalion 1 requesting mechanic and Car 4(DC) to respond. Engine 303 is "dead in the water".

22:15hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting rig is out of quarters w/engine still burning.

22:22hrs. - Dispatch advising Battalion 1 of mechanic's 20 minute ETA. Battalion 1 requesting a tow truck to the scene.

22:29hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting holding Engine 306. Fire is out.

22:50hrs. - Engine 303 reporting awaiting mechanic. Engine 306 and Battalion 1 are 10-8.

I'm guessing the Yonkers FD has spare rigs similar to the FDNY that 303 will now get for a while?

Ironically, the rig Engine 303 was using that burned was in fact a spare rig. 303 is running with their frontline piece now. The YFD operates a pretty impressive spare and reserve fleet. I believe they run 3 Spare Engines (300, 315, 316) and 3 Reserve Engines (317, 318, 319), as well as 3 Spare Ladders (76, 77, 80), and 3 Reserve Ladders (78, 79, 81). The rig 303 was using at the time of the fire was Spare Engine 318.

Cool info, ironic that it was a spare. A few months ago E162's spare rig caught fire outside their quarters as well.
