This coming Tuesday night gathering will feature an inside look at how FDNY Dispatchers
handled the War Years fire traffic. 40-year veteran, who had worked in all 5 borough offices, Gary Greenbaum had put together an extremely interesting presentation with over 100 slides showing the equipment used and those who fulfilled the daily task of covering all the calls for service.

Gary served as a supervisor for 30 years helping to train the dispatching force & the development of the current dispatching computer system besides being a life long fire buff.

The zoom meeting starts at 1930 Hrs (NY time). Its open to all registered members of this website. If you are not a member, please fill out the short application & join. Once the application is received & processed please contact Atlas@NYCFire.net for the Zoom information.

I tuned in to this zoom meeting and I would like to THANK Retired Supervising FDNY Dispatcher Gary Greenbaum for presenting an EXCELLENT Zoom Presentation along with a series of pictures, including a video, going back several decades up until the current dispatch system of how it works today.

I must say that there's a lot to learn for those FDNY Dispatchers of the past and present.
It's not just answering the phones asking "where's the fire" or talking on the boro frequency radio.

Many years ago several of my buddies would go to buff the FDNY and one of our favorite dispatchers was Dispatcher 56 who we now know was Gary Greenbaum.

Today Gary and I are good friends and we meet up once in a while.
He also sent me a zoom meeting from last year that I was interested in.

I would also like to THANK both "jbendick" and "Atlas" for making it all possible, also good friends of mine now.

THANKS GUYS

I'm bummed I missed it. any chance it was recorded?

"paul612", there are times when that happens, and you are not alone.
Maybe if you contact "Atlas" he may be able to help you.
Gary is a great guy, and he has helped me in the past, but I suggest you contact "Atlas"
BUT - I also know that "Atlas" has been a pretty busy guy too.
Give it a try...........
