I believe (Could be wrong) That certain chief are "Air Recon Trained" if that's even a thing.

ARC was established before Drone Units

Its usually Brooklyn BCs since they have to go to Floyd Bennet Field.

Dating back (Forgot the date)
9X6 Chief working that were AR trained were B3,38,39,41,42,58
And for the 6X9 were 21,33,39,40,42,58

But the 58 was the 1st up ARC when needed. If the 58 should be unavailable. Not sure which would be next up

The dreaded box 920. When you were up for evaluation, you'd sit in the kitchen listening to the bells...praying you didn't hear 7-920-11...lol. For other boroughs of course it was 7-66-920-108. Not a fun day with Capt. Maistrich (sp).

To your point on the fact ARC was established before drones, I wonder if at some point they look at changing the ARC response policy. They could either move it up the alarm card from the 3rd to the 4th or 5th or perhaps make it special call only. It seems they're rarely used now with the drones, often the first transmission after the 3rd is 10-2 the ARC. Times have changed

Having them as a back up isn't a bad idea. When the drone is at another fire or delayed an arc can fill the gap.

Does this actually happen though? Seems like ARC is almost always cancelled now, plus there's a second CTU to fill that gap
