E-bikes may be great for third world cities where life is cheap and resources for transportation are limited. Do we need them in the US?

It is noted that injuries related to e-bikes are up 1000% in the last few years. San Diego doctors got the city to ban children 12 years or younger from riding them. Elementary schools are banning them. The District Attorney in Orange County, California has had buy-back events (like handguns) and is starting to file felony child endangerment charges against the parents of kids injured riding an e-bike.

There's a lot of things that society doesn't let folks do. If this keeps up, e-bikes may need to be added to the list.

The problem is that they're already everywhere. I live in a fairly rural community and see kids on them all day long. They're in every town and every city. It'd be almost impossible to roll back on them now.
