My daughter and grand daughter live at the corner of 25th and 6th - they said the explosion was very very loud - my 5 yr old grand daughter is very upset.  26 injuries now reported.
My prayers go out for the injured and members of the FDNY and NYPD.
 
Manhattan CO. told E8,E65, and L2 to grab there Task force PPE and to make sure it was doned prior to arrival, does anyone know what that means?

operate in hot zone to remove victims???
 
I'm really concerned about the first responders that arrive on scene there with so many units that respond I hope they take caution and have some sort of spacing so that there not lewered in and s second or third device goes off when they are investigating 


I'm sure there's a protocol in fdny response to make sure nypd has secured the scene simultaneously with there response

This is something many departments and organizations are now adopting, although mostly for EMS. The idea is that instead of waiting hours before going in at something like the Orlando nightclub shooting (while victims lie there without assistance), EMS will go in possibly as early as the second team with PD personnel for rapid triage and extrication, basically throw on tourniquets, put them on your tactical stretcher, and get out.
 
Listening to the scanner I heard the battalion chief tell command to have all units stay off the block  So that answered my question earlier kudos to that chief well done

And then command pass the info which was as important too
