9/17/16 Manhattan 2nd Alarm/10-60 Box 615

It seems like this is something they want to roll out department-wide but according to the comments under the previous link, it looks like they've started out with EMS HazTac and some Manhattan fire companies (I guess where they consider the threat to be the greatest). Considering they asked for a "Division Task Force" there may be one designated team in each division that would respond upon request. I'm not sure if every unit will have it or this will be treated as a collateral assignment (like being a water rescue or high-rise nozzle company). This is mostly guessing based on last night and some research on the Internet so maybe someone with more direct knowledge can chime in.
 
They said something last night that from the North it's E8 L2 B8. From the South it's E24 L5 B2
 
My question, not to get off the subject is why would the dept relocate a squad company to a rescue? Would it have been better to relocate rescue 3 to Manhattan, Move rescue 2 to queens to cover queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx and then keep rescue 5 in Staten Island. Therefore you could keep the squads as haz-mat tech units given the nature of the incident.

Battalion 8, Engine 8, Engine 65, Ladder 2

My Dad is retired from E-65.  When we visited in July, they told us they were getting a second apparatus to carry the gear.  They had no idea what it will look like.  I don't know how many companies in each task force will receive the second piece.  They also said every borough was getting a task force.  I'm taking a wild guess and saying 1 for each division.
 
Sounds similar to the Decon Task Force's in existence w/an additional ENG added.

It's almost like lafd task force when the whole stations deploys and stays together as a unit. Was developed during the riots in LA.

 
A friend told me that there are five suspects in police custody for this bomb. They were picked up in the area of the Belt Pkwy and VZ Bridge.

Any more info to confirm that ?
 
FBI confirming 5 individuals were arrested afted their car stopped on the Belt PKWY under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, all are believed to be connected with the bombing. Question is: what were they doing under the bridge. Were they driving and stopped by NYPD or were they stopped originally under the bridge for reasons we don't know...

Anyone have information on the second piece talked about here?

Maybe they will re-purpose the Freightliner vans that HMTU companies had before they got the new Ferrara units
