"Darrell", many here have been around this site for a long time (16 years for myself).
We get along fine and for many of us, friendships have developed
We all have an interest in the fire service and we share a form of Brotherhood on this site.

I notice that you joined this site in March, 2023
Unfortunately, some feel your comments seem to cause some concern.

Of course we appreciate those who contribute to this site in a positive way.
I would also point out that we have very few problems among us.

Generally speaking, we try to help each other, rather than being critical of each other

So "I hope that you might be more positive in your comments or replies".

I must also apologize to all of you for going off topic regarding this Bronx 5th Alarm of 3/5/23.

In theory the highest number of alarms, in the FDNY, that should be transmitted in any one NYC Borough is "5" so as not to strip any one Borough of available companies. In the old days, under the old telegraph alarm system, above the 5th alarms was a Simultaneous, or Borough Call. Units were called from another nearby NYC Borough to box in the other NYC Borough and then sent to fill out the 6th or greater alarm. In actuality the units responded directly to the big fire directly in modern times with department radios on every rig. The World Trade Center on 9/11/01 was equal to a total of 27 alarms including mutual aid. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired

In my opinion they should bring back the borough call because sometimes Special Calls aren't just enough. The Computers at the PSAC go to a 10th Alarm, I can understand not wanting to empty an entire borough. If they aren't going to go higher then a 5-5 at least bring back the borough call.

You might see a policy change with either a new mayor, fire commissioner, or Chief of Dept. They are the ones who call the shots. So sit back and see what happens.
