Doesn't SQ18 respond to all calls south of 125th or was the response changed?

Up to East 96th on the East Side

Up to West 125th St on the West Side

I think
R1 is W125th on the West Side and E116th on the East Side, I thought SQ18 was the same thing. I can't find a darn thing about the response area for SQ41 besides the outdated Wikipedia article on the FDNY which just states "serves the southwestern Bronx and Manhattan above 125th St. Squad 41's quarters are located at 330 E. 150th St. in the South Bronx neighborhood of the Bronx." and a thread on the First Due Boxes for 41.

6 story 30'x70' Class 3 MD

B12 gave 10-75, fire 2nd floor

B12 gave All Hands - 1 L/S/O

D3: UC (duration 42 min.)

I’ve never seen it visualized like this before. Thanks for sharing. Do you have borders of 252 & 1 or 288 & 270?
I have seen Squad 1 and 252s I just haven’t gotten a chance to do it. It’s very weird in my opinion basically like Flatbush is the cut off

Is it Flatbush? I believe in parts like by my it may be Kings Highway.

There was a Plan to add another Squad in Upper Midtown at one point in time. One of the possibilities was to make Engine 23 a Squad. When I was the Captain of Engine 26 "The Bat Cave" due to the amount of Ladder Co. experience myself and some of my officers had, we were given Truck Co. tools and were sometimes used for some truck work at large fires. We even got involved in a F.A.S.T. operation when were relocating to Harlem's E-36. Photo below Squad 1 in Harlem in 1950s. With Midtown traffic being so bad maybe the idea of an "Uptown Squad" is someting the deserves another look. The old Borough Signal on the Bells for Manhattan was 6-6; "Squad 6 are you available?
Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.

FDNY Squad 1 Harlem in 1950s ot 60s.jpgMany years ago, the 1st Squad 1 was in Harlem until the 1970s. Traffic in Midtown being as bad as it is maybe it time for a new Squad in upper midtown or lower Harlem. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired

Information probably isn't accurate anymore, but I found something on a thread in "General Discussion" from 2009. According to "efd274" SQ18 works south of 90th on the West side, south of 75th on the East side.

There are Squads and then there is "THE SQUAD" SQ 41.........more runs, More Workers !
