Location: Van Courtlandt Park off the Major Deegan Expressway North of 233 Street

Large Area of Brush

0757 - E-63 - Fill out the box. We're going to need additional Engines here to assist. Have them use the service road.

0800 - Bn. 15 - We're not on scene, but we have a large area of brush. Please assign a Tower Ladder to the box (TL-46).

0802 - Bn. 15 - Make this a 10-75. Using All Hands. We have 2 areas of brush going and we should be able to hit both with what we've got.

L-37 FAST

0804 - Bn. 15 - We don't need special units, including the FAST Truck. We have several areas of brush going.

0810 - Bn. 15 - Start out a Brush Fire Unit (E-97 w/ BFU-8).

0836 - Div. 7 - 3 L/S, 2 L/O. We have multiple patches of brush that we are attacking from either side.

0850 - Div. 7 - Transmit the 2nd Alarm for manpower. No special units will be needed.

0855 - Div. 7 - We're setting up two operations, one is at Van Courtlandt and 233 Street, the other is at Napier Ave and Van Courtlandt.

0923 - Div. 7 - Continuing to operate with 2 lines and 1 Tower Ladder. Hitting hot spots.

Difficult area for brush, you actually use Yonkers hydrant on north end of service to fill up boosters and then they respond back south to east 233rd and head north on service road to return to fire area. Usually three or four pumpers used depending on volume of fire, hook up line use up water unhook next engine up while used up booster heads to refill. To remote to lay a supply line. Long stretches into woods also requires manpower to operate the lines. saw some fresh units heading up Deegan I assume for relief.

Engine 81 has additional adapters in their quarters for others units to use who might be called to Yonkers on Mutual Aid. Equipping units on the border with the proper fittings is a smart idea,

All Engines in area near city line have fittings and adapters for that county, with additional left in firehouse for relocators and such. Yonkers units have similar to use the NYC hydrants if advantageous to operation.

In the day of interchange or if you was a regular relocator to that area you had adaptors. I remember 48 Engine would interchange with 63 regularly and 48 had at least 2.
