FDNY BOOKS

FF Paul Hashagen, R*1 (ret.) has written a new book highlighting the inception and the first decade of Rescue 1. I just received mine, but unfortunately I have quite the reading list until I can get to it. Nevertheless I'm very excited for this newest edition.

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like a great read. Anything Paul creates is high quality. I will order a copy

Got to add this book to my collection of great fire department books.

But there are other books titled "Rescue Squad".
I have one that I bought several years ago titled "Rescue Squad" by Larry Ferazani.
If I remember correctly, it was about Cambridge, Mass Rescue 1.

Yup, I know him from Bunker Hill CC. Book available on Amazon.

I remember having to read that in grammar school. It was probably not long after it was printed. Many years later working in the Burg I passed it often and remember thinking about that book.

LADDER 108 BOOK ....

If you went to the Glendale public library on 73 Pl back in the early 80's you'd see my name signing this book out about 20 times. Finally bought a copy about 10 years ago.

LADDER 108 book... Vinny Fowler Sr. (my first LT) was the Father of Vinny who was a LODD as a CPT .....two of his other Sons John & Andy Fowler are both Ret from the FDNY.....Whitefish is the only Member pictured in the book that is still alive.....not everybody in the Company at the time was in the book.

"Whitefish" is a GREAT GUY and a GOOD FRIEND to many of us here.
We were introduced to him several years ago, thanks to Chief "68jk09".

Every year he sets up a Get Together for Active and Retired Members of Ladder 108, and Engine 216 and Batt 35.
It's called; "The Segel Eagle Reunion".
